Dakar: An on-site Forum and no health concern

    Invited to speak at the 76th Board of Governors of the World Water Council on Monday, February 14, Senegal's Minister of Water and Sanitation, Sérigné Mbaye Thiam, put an end to many logistical issues and concerns with the following official announcement: The 9th World Water Forum will be held in Diamniadio, the new administrative capital of Senegal, a suburb of Dakar, in a on-site version.

    In preparation for the 9th edition of the world’s largest water event, to be held in Senegal from 22 to 27,  March 2022, we have the pleasure of informing you that the second Stakeholders Meeting of the 9th World Water Forum will be organized in Diamniadio (Senegal) on 14 and 15 October 2021. 

    Review of the World Water Council delegation's visit to Dakar

    At the beginning of June, a delegation of the World Water Council led by its President Loïc Fauchon visited Dakar, where the next World Water Forum will be held from 21 to 26 March 2022.

    Various meetings were held during this official trip, with a focus on the active preparation of the 9th Forum. Objectives: promote the event, intensify its preparation and share on the progress and challenges.


     

    OFFICIAL VISIT TO MOROCCO BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD WATER COUNCIL

    In view of the 9th World Water Forum which will open in Dakar on 22 March 2022, Loïc Fauchon, President of the World Water Council, went on an official trip to Morocco to meet the Head of the Moroccan Government, various Ministers and the Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water. They are all actively preparing Morocco's participation in this event.

    On 22 March 2021, World Water Day and a symbolic date for the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, which should have opened on D-365 days before its postponement to 2022, the Ministry of Water and Sanitation of Senegal and the Secretariat of the 9th Forum, in collaboration with the World Water Council, have seized the opportunity to bring together all the stakeholders in a series of virtual webinars.
