    Throughout the 2016 World Water Week, the World Water Council shall be very active in promoting good policy, mobilizing action and challenging thinking. We invite you to join us at a number of key events:

    Actions speak louder than words: Implementation Roadmaps for catalyzing change

    Sunday, 28 August, from 16:00-17:30 / room FH Little Theatre
    The World Water Council is convening at this event to share information about the success of the 8th World Water Forum kick-off meeting and how to get engaged in the preparatory process. It is also a workshop for Daegu-Gyeongbuk Implementation Commitment Champions to review and revise their implementation roadmaps and network with stakeholders while creating enthusiasm for its annual review meeting in Korea in October.

    Financing Water Infrastructure for Sustainable Growth

    Tuesday, 30 August, all day / room FH 300
    The World Water Council is a co-convenor for this seminar with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, 2030 Water Resources Group and SIWI. The seminar is composed of 3 sessions:
    • 9:00-10:30 “Bridging the gap” facilitated by Henk Ovink, Special Envoy, The Netherlands, with interventions from Usha Rao-Monari, CEO Global Water Development Partners, Blackstone Group. Read more 
    • 11:00-12:30 “From USD100bn to USD100k: From vision to transaction” facilitated by Jim Winpenny, Consultant to the World Water Council, with interventions from OECD’s Angel Gurria and World Water Council President Benedito Braga. Read more
    • 14:00-15:30 “The risk-return metrics” with a closing address by World Water Council Vice-President Dogan Altinbilek. Read more

    Celebrating WWC 20 years of Achievement

    This Members’ Event will be organized to jointly celebrate the Council’s 20th anniversary, in cooperation with the Global Water Partnership (GWP) who also turns 20.

    Water: Key to Adaptation and Resilience

    Wednesday, 31 August, from 9:00-10:30 / room NL 357The World Water Council is convening this to present its Climate Change Resilience program which was implemented in collaboration with CONAGUA and ANEAS. There will also be the launching of a new World Water Council book entitled “Increasing Resilience to Climate Variability and Change". Come and get a copy! Read more

    Building Resilience for Water Scarcity and Drought

    Thursday, 1 September, from 14:00-15:30 / room FH Little TheatrePresident Braga will participate in an expert panel on water scarcity and drought resilience organized by the “Australian Water Partnership and U.S. Water Partnership”. This side-event provides an opportunity to put forward governance and financing mechanisms developed in recent years to develop resilience to droughts by investing in water infrastructure.
