    The World Water Council (WWC) is an international organization that promotes sustainable water management worldwide. It has more than 350 members, including governments, non-governmental organizations, businesses, professional networks and research institutes from nearly 60 countries.

    Every three years, the World Water Council (WWC) organizes the World Water Forum with more than 20,000 participants from all over the world.

    The World Water Council multicultural and dynamic headquarters in Marseille, France, employs highly motivated people and is looking for a Press Relations and Communication Officer.

                 PRESS RELATIONS OFFICER

    Working time: 100%

    Similar international experience of at least 5 years required

     

    Within the President's Office, the Press Relations Officer is responsible for the design and production of press relations activities on all aspects of the World Water Council's communication and supports the World Water Forums. The Press Relations Officer will be responsible for the following tasks. 

     

    1. World Water Council's operational press officer, in charge of responding, proposing and implementing editorial content to specialized and general international media.

    •  Preparation and regular distribution of press releases and interviews according to a provisional calendar to be drawn up by him/her
    •  Organization of press conferences in France and abroad
    •  Coordination, supervision and monitoring of outsourced specialist press officers, if necessary.

    2. Development and updating of active press and media contact files, both general and specialized, in France and worldwide

    3. Monthly, quarterly and annual activity reports, creation of books and archiving of articles, reports and interviews

    4.World Water Forums

    Focal point representing the World Water Council for press and media relations for the Forum.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum degree of Bachelor + 4 or equivalent in communication, press relations or journalism.
    • Minimum 5 years experience as a press relations officer or journalist having worked at international level.
    • Good interpersonal and writing skills
    • Proven ability to work on a wide variety of tasks, activities and projects.
    • Rigorous approach to work.
    • Proven ability to work effectively in real time.
    • Excellent English and French language skills.
    • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
    • Availability for international travels

    PROJECT OFFICER ON THEMATIC INITIATIVES

    Under the supervision of the Director of Strategy, Projects and Forum, the Project Officer on thematic initiatives works on development, thematic monitoring of World Water Council programs and the thematic process of the World Water Forum, their implementation and management.

    Among the Project officer on thematic initiatives tasks:

    1. Implementation and management of thematic initiatives, projects and programs

     

    •  Implement thematic programs to support the activities of the World Water Council and the resultant deliverables and evaluate outcomes.
    •  Participate in the program fundraising effort.
    •  Organize and lead Task Forces/ Working Groups dedicated to the implementation of the World Water Council strategy, preparing all documents, work plans, reports and materials necessary for their operation.

    2. World Water Forum Thematic Process

     

    •  Provide technical and methodological support for the preparation and conduct of the Forum.
    •  Support the Task Forces/Working Groups and Steering Committee dedicated to the organization and the holding of the Forum, by preparing all documents, reports and materials necessary for their operation (quarterly and annual work plans etc.) in co-production with the Secretariat of the World Water Forum, co-organizer of the World Water Forum.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    HEAD OF THEMATIC INITIATIVES

    Under the general supervision of the President, the Head of thematic initiatives will undertake the following tasks:

    1. Thematic background analysis

    •  Prepare thematic analysis to underpin the Council’s work with large water users inside and outside the water sector.
    •  Prepare thematic background studies for the Council’s engagement with other major water-related sectors.

    2. Thematic initiatives’ development/implementation

    •  Oversee the development/ implementation of the World Water Council’s thematic strategy with members and partners, in and outside the water sector.
    •  Develop new activities and partnerships to engage on thematic issues in consultation with Board members.
    •  Produce materials for developing and implementing the thematic initiatives/programs.
    •  Secure financial resources from various sectors for existing or future thematic initiatives by working with specialists and leaders from different sectors on fundraising.
    •  Lead the Task Forces/ Working Groups dedicated to the implementation of the World Water Council strategy, and prepare all documents, work plans, reports and materials necessary for their operation.

    3. Project administration and management

    • Manage and monitor the consumption of the budget dedicated to the implementation of projects in connection with the Secretary General.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to project officers, trainees and consultants to ensure high quality products are delivered.
    • Develop and use a detailed and time-bound workplan to guide activities and to deliver results.
    • Report on all thematic activities.

    4. External relations

    •  Build and maintain strong relationships with Council members and partners on the Council’s thematic initiatives.
    •  Produce clear and concise written outputs in English for use at all levels, including for publication.
    •  Provide regular input to update the thematic initiatives part of the Council website.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

    Within the President's Office, the Communications Officer will be responsible for the design and production of all aspects of the World Water Council's communications and will support the World Water Forums. The Communications Officer will be responsible for the following tasks

    1. Institutional communication

    •  Drafting the Council's communication strategy, including a planning dashboard.
    •  Production of written communication materials and supervision of their distribution (newsletters, brochures, reports, etc.)
    •  Production of audiovisual tools, photos and multimedia materials to communicate about the Council and its activities
    •  Production of the Council's promotional tools (stands, kakemonos etc.)
    •  Coordination of designers, communication agencies, media, printers, editors and translators.

    2. Digital Communication

    •  Editorial webmaster: management and updating of the website content in conjunction with the IT manager.
    •  Social networks: Management and updating of social network content in conjunction with the IT manager (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, LinkedIn, YouTube).
    •  Monthly reporting on web and social network activity

    3. World Water Forums

    •  Focal point representing the World Water Council in matters of communication for the Forum.
    •  Regular relations with the Forum Secretariat: advice, reporting.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum degree of Bachelor + 4 or equivalent in communication
    • Minimum 5 years experience as a communications officer working at international level.
    • Excellent knowledge of French and English
