A secure water world is emerging as a top human development priority on the sustainable development agenda. To this end, Cairo Water Week 2020, is marking this year’s version of CWW series of conferences, with the theme “Water Security in Arid Regions” the Road to Dakar 2021, emphasizing how water is an essential asset to all aspects of our lives including livelihood, health, economy and environment.

Hosted by UN-Water, the Sustainable Development Goal 6 Global Acceleration Framework launch will be a high-level and multi-stakeholder moment to generate commitments for ambitious solutions on water and sanitation in support of the Decade of Action to deliver SDGs by 2030. The Framework is driven by country demand and will align the international community to strengthen country planning, implementation and knowledge sharing for SDG 6 while supporting country response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The General Assembly is the opportunity for all members of the World Water Council to influence the strategic orientation of the organization by voting on policies and programs. It is also the occasion for members to elect the representatives of the Board of Governors for a term of three years, approve the triennial budget, and adopt the work program and By-Laws.
