3rd Seminar on World Water Security in Beijing

At the 3rd Seminar on World Water Security in Beijing, Loïc Fauchon stressed the importance of securing our water resources in order to preserve harmony between man and nature.

As far as the different uses of water are concerned, I would just like to reiterate our concern about water for food. This is the global priority for the very near future and a challenge for humanity. Above all, we need to strengthen our capacity for innovation in order to increase agricultural production in line with population growth. As far as nature is concerned, there is clearly a new balance to be struck between the need for water for human activity and the preservation of the water necessary for the survival of species and biodiversity. To achieve this, we are going to diversify, accelerate and intensify all kinds of nature-based solutions, particularly for ponds, lakes and rivers.
