2013 World Water Day WATCH LIVE!!!

UNESCO is leading the 2013 International Year of Water Cooperation in view of the organization’s multi-dimensional mandate in the realm of natural and social sciences, culture, education and communication, and its significant and long-standing contribution to the management of the world’s freshwater resources. On this important day celebrating water, the World Water Council is represented at the Official United Nations World Water Day celebrations –both in New York through the high level panel at the UN General Assembly and the High Level Forum in The Hague.

World Water Day celebrations and High Level Forum in The Hague, Netherlands

Eminent persons, including political and government leaders and members of the UN High Level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, have been invited to take part in the celebration of World Water Day and this Leadership Meeting on Water. During the afternoon, they will participate in a High Level Forum to explore whether the draft outcome statement of the meeting addresses the key challenges, and whether it adequately reflects the ambitions for a water secure world and the cooperation and actions needed to achieve these ambitions. They will be invited to take note of the outcome statement of the Global Thematic Consultation on Water. András Szöllösi-Nagy, World Water Council Governor, will be moderating the High Level Forum. High-Level Interactive Dialogue of the 67th session of the UNGA

This event responds to the invitation of Member States to convene a High-Level Interactive Dialogue during the sixty-seventh session of the General Assembly in New York on 22 March 2013, World Water Day, to mark the 2013 International Year of Water cooperation and the twentieth anniversary of World Water Day. The Council will be represented by Karin Krchnak, World Water Council Governor. On this occasion there will be an interactive video link with the high level forum in The Hague, at 4pm EDT.
