Portrait of Vice-President Éric Tardieu

    Éric Tardieu, appointed Vice-President of the World Water Council at the Board of Governors meeting in Paris on 11 December 2022, said : "I am proud and honoured by the trust placed in me and will do my utmost to represent the Water Community".


    Éric Tardieu is an engineer from Polytechnique and of the Génie rural, des Eaux et des Forêts (AgroParisTech).
    He holds a thesis in the field of wastewater treatment.

    He has worked on the implementation of public water policies in France, including European regulations. He has held various responsibilities for the State and several local authorities, not only in water and environmental policy, but also in innovation, research and territorial development, at the French, European and international levels.

    Since 2017, he has been Director General of the International Office for Water (IOWater), an association that aims to develop skills to better manage water, in France and worldwide, particularly in the field of professional training, water data and information systems, technical and institutional support and international cooperation.

    Since 2018, he has been Secretary General of the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO) which promotes the implementation of integrated water resources management at the scale of river, lake and aquifer basins.
