Korean Prime Minister Greets Council Governors in Seoul

    This week the Council’s Board members gathered in Seoul , Republic of Korea, for their second meeting of the year. A dense agenda awaited them as well as a warm welcome from Korea’s Prime Minister Hongwon Chung. At the welcoming ceremony for the 7th World Water Forum Kick-off on Monday night, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to the World Water Council and said that he hoped that the 7th World Water Forum will be of great help to other countries and to the world.  The ceremony was preceded by a two-day Board meeting opened by Vice-Minister Kee-pong Park, the Chairman of the National Committee of the 7th Forum, Jung-moo Lee, the Co-chair of the International Steering Committee (ISC) for the 7th Forum, Soontak Lee, and World Water Council President and Co-chair of the ISC, Ben Braga. The Board members discussed the political and thematic progress made since the last meeting in February and closed the accounts for last year. The Governors also reviewed the progress of the organization of the 7th Forum and the selection of the 8th host country and city as well as the Council’s membership and communications development. The next Board meeting is planned for October in conjunction with the Budapest Water Summit which the Council organizes together with the Government of Hungary and the UN system.
