The Kyoto World Water Grand Prize 2027 is now officially open for applications.
Established by the City of Kyoto and the World Water Council following the 3rd World Water Forum held in Japan in 2003, the Prize recognizes outstanding grassroots initiatives and sustainable actions that contribute to improving water management and supporting local communities around the world.
The Prize celebrates individuals, organizations, and community-based initiatives whose work demonstrates innovation, commitment, and tangible impact in addressing water-related challenges. It highlights the essential role of local action in building a more sustainable and water-secure future.
The award ceremony for the Kyoto World Water Grand Prize 2027 will take place during the 11th World Water Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in March 2027.
Applications are being accepted by the Japan Water Forum from 31 March 2026 until 12 June 2026. Interested organizations and institutions are strongly encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline and to share this opportunity widely within their networks.
