    At World Water Week in Stockholm 2018, the World Water Council will be engaging with stakeholders, sharing knowledge and bringing participants up-to-date with its advancement on crucial issues, including its initiatives on "Financing Water Infrastructure", "Water and Climate Change" and the development of its next triennial strategy, among other things. A dedicated showcase event will be convened with Brazilian and Senegalese representatives to promote the outcomes of the 8th World Water Forum and discuss the preparation for the 9th World Water Forum.
     

    Blended finance: From principles to practice

    Monday 27 August | 14.00-15.30 | Room: FH 300 

    From principles to practice, WWC, OECD, the Dutch Government, Water.org, and IRC, will offer a special focus on blended finance. Presentations will include the OECD Principles on blended finance and some preliminary findings on the topic of hybridity and blended finance, as part of the World Water Council Task Force work on Financing. The session will also include different perspectives from financiers on questions such as how development finance can leverage other sources of finance, etc. Read more 

    Mastering Disaster in the Anthropocene: Reconciling DRR and Climate Frameworks

    Disaster risk reduction and recovery efforts are profoundly influenced by climate change, but the DRR and climate policy and action communities remain divided and distinct. Can water serve as a mechanism to find common ground and effective action to confront new threats and reduce long-term risks? Read more 

    Follow up on the High-Level Panel Water: Financing & Valuing

    Wednesday 29 August | 14.00-15.30 | Room: NL Pillar Hall

    The event focuses on the outcomes of the High-Level Panel on Water specifically related to the two initiatives on Valuing Water and on Water Infrastructure and Investment that were presented during the 8th World Water Forum in Brasilia and during the High-Level Political Forum. The event is co-convened by the Government of The Netherlands and the Office of the President of Hungary, with the support of OECD and WWC. The objective is to reiterate and reinforce the outcome messages. It will also be the occasion to establish a link between the recommendations of the High-Level Panel on Water and the multi-stakeholder platform provided by the Roundtable on Financing Water, and to discuss how those recommendations could be put into action.     A new World Water Forum horizon: from Brazil to Senegal

    The World Water Council will convene a showcase event entitled “A new World Water Forum horizon: from Brazil to Senegal” with Brazilian and Senegalese representatives to promote the World Water Forums. The event will present the outcomes of the 8th World Water Forum and the preparation for the 9th World Water Forum. Read more

    Resilient Policies: Achieving SDG and UNFCCC Goals Through Water Management

    Thursday 30 August | 14.00-15.30 | Room: NL Music Hall

    This event is convened by #ClimateIsWater, AGWA, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), UNESCO IHP, and the World Water Council. Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement were both finalized in 2015, but their linkages are limited, and policies are difficult for countries to reconcile. Could water be the missing ingredient to reconcile these policies, enabling poverty alleviation and climate mitigation and adaptation? Read more
