Preparations in Brasilia

As a precursor to the 8th World Water Forum Kick-off Meeting, the International Steering Committee convened for its second meeting on Thursday, 23 June in Brasilia. In addition to reviewing the plans of each of the process commissions over the course of the next two years, the Committee evoked a number of organizational issues, and in particular, the plans for the Kick-off meeting to be held on 27 and 28 June in the future venue of the 8th World Water Forum.  It was also the occasion for the World Water Council’s Board of Governors to come together for its second meeting of the year. The Board was welcomed by the Governor of Brasilia, Senator Rodrigo Rollemberg, who demonstrated strong commitment from the Federal District to the cause of water, which in his words, represented “the future of humanity.” The Governors will pursue their work over the course of two days, concentrating particularly on their continued activities to reinforce the World Water Council’s triennial strategy and the World Water Forums.
