This year at World Water Week, the World Water Council will be engaging with stakeholders and members in advancing and motivating action to make water security a reality for all. Our principal activities include interactive sessions on financing water and a workshop on how to get involved in shaping the outcomes of the 9th World Water Forum. 

The right blend: tailoring finance vehicles for context-specific success

The World Water Council, the Government of the Netherlands, OECD, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and Water.org invite you to a dynamic session that will inform and educate participants about blended financial instruments to unlock capital for water and sanitation. A panel of stakeholders will share their experience while focusing on the importance of matching finance vehicles with purpose and country context. Read more 

Transforming Societies to meet the SDGs: The Role of Finance

Three successive sessions will explore how finance can support an inclusive, sustainable transformation to reach SDGs. Participants will learn how to attract non-traditional sources of finance, how to create a favorable environment, and how to make existing financing more effective and equitable. The seminar is co-convened by CAF, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, SIWI, the Stockholm Sustainable Finance Center and the World Water Council.

• 9:00-10:30 “Pitching for Finance: What do Investors want?” Emulating the format of the famous TV show Dragons‘ Den, a panel of finance experts will evaluate water project pitches. Read more
• 11:00-12:30 “Creating an Enabling Environment for Investment: Barriers, Enablers and Regulation” Through a series of roundtables, learn how to create a policy, institutional and regulatory environment that supports sector investments. Read more
• 14:00-15:30 “Trade-Offs: Accessing Finance while Leaving No One Behind” This final session will discuss trade-offs to be considered when designing financially sustainable and inclusive water projects. Read more

Join the Youth for the 9th World Water Forum "Dakar 2021"

This event is designed for all stakeholders who want to learn more about the innovative framework of the 9th World Water Forum and its preparatory process, including stakeholder’s involvement. Emphasis will be given to the engagement of youth in the Forum process. It is co-convened by the World Water Council, GWP, UNESCO IHP, the 9th World Water Forum Organizing Committee, ISW, the International Science Council - Regional Office for Africa, and the Association des Jeunes Professionnels de l’eau et de l’Assainissement du Sénégal.
