Cr\u00e9\u00e9 par la ville de Kyoto lors du troisi\u00e8me Forum mondial de l'eau en 2003 et d\u00e9cern\u00e9 tous les trois ans depuis lors, le Grand Prix mondial de l'eau de Kyoto, organis\u00e9 conjointement par le Forum japonais de l'eau et le Conseil mondial de l'eau, r\u00e9compense les organisations locales qui apportent des solutions concr\u00e8tes aux probl\u00e8mes li\u00e9s \u00e0 l'eau dans les pays en d\u00e9veloppement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pour sa cinqui\u00e8me \u00e9dition, le prix a re\u00e7u 50 candidatures provenant de 23 pays diff\u00e9rents. Fid\u00e8le \u00e0 la tradition de Kyoto, \u201cl'harmonie entre tradition et innovation\u201d, le jury s'est particuli\u00e8rement attach\u00e9 cette ann\u00e9e \u00e0 r\u00e9compenser les pratiques durables qui respectent la communaut\u00e9 et ses habitudes culturelles.<\/p>\n

Pragati Koraput, qui aide les agriculteurs de la r\u00e9gion semi-aride d'Odisha, dans l'est de l'Inde, a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9e cette ann\u00e9e. L'organisation, qui utilise l'\u00e9nergie solaire pour pomper l'eau et irriguer les cultures, est r\u00e9compens\u00e9e pour son initiative visant \u00e0 r\u00e9soudre un probl\u00e8me d'eau tout en limitant son impact sur l'environnement.<\/p>\n

Le laur\u00e9at, qui sera officiellement r\u00e9compens\u00e9 lors de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie de cl\u00f4ture du 9e Forum mondial de l'eau \u00e0 Dakar en mars, recevra 2 000 000 JPY (environ 18 000 USD).<\/p>\n
