La conf\u00e9rence \u201cRising to the Renewable Energy Challenge - Tapping the Potential and Doing it Right\u201d a \u00e9t\u00e9 ouverte par Jim Yong Kim , pr\u00e9sident du groupe de la Banque mondiale, et a r\u00e9uni des intervenants de haut niveau tels que Ram Sharan Mahat, ministre des finances du N\u00e9pal. Elle \u00e9tait anim\u00e9e par Ed Crooks, r\u00e9dacteur en chef du Financial Times pour l'industrie et l'\u00e9nergie aux \u00c9tats-Unis. Les participants ont notamment discut\u00e9 de l'hydro\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, qui est la principale source d'\u00e9nergie renouvelable. \u201cL'hydro\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 est plus acceptable qu'auparavant. Les b\u00e9n\u00e9fices sont partag\u00e9s avec les populations locales et les r\u00e9servoirs peuvent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s \u00e0 d'autres fins, telles que l'irrigation et le contr\u00f4le des inondations\u201d. a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le pr\u00e9sident Braga, ajoutant que la construction hydro\u00e9lectrique avait \u00e9volu\u00e9 au cours des 20 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.<\/div>\n<div>L'eau et l'\u00e9nergie sont interd\u00e9pendantes et donc n\u00e9cessaires pour soutenir le d\u00e9veloppement et \u00e9radiquer la pauvret\u00e9 dans les d\u00e9cennies \u00e0 venir, comme le soulignent les objectifs de d\u00e9veloppement durable qui seront n\u00e9goci\u00e9s par les \u00c9tats membres des Nations unies au cours de l'ann\u00e9e \u00e0 venir.
