L'ouragan Sandy, qui a frapp\u00e9 la ville en 2012, a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit comme une temp\u00eate \u2018unique en son genre\u2019, causant la mort et la destruction dans la r\u00e9gion des Cara\u00efbes et sur la c\u00f4te est des \u00c9tats-Unis.
