About the organization

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (MLTM) of the Republic of Korea is one of the essential ministries in the water sector. We, the MLTM, aim at developing and conserving the land systemically, including the sea, creating pleasant urban spaces, improving people’s lives, and pursuing the balanced development of the country. Considering water, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs is implementing integrated Water Resources Management (floods and droughts) and developing policies and technologies for effective water use. Also, the MLTM is developing water infrastructures and cooperating with global communities. Re-creating the land with water is one of the three policies set up by the MLTM, and «the four major rivers restoration project» has started. With this project, the MLTM will create an environment to respond to floods and droughts caused by climate change and secure the quality and quantity of water for people’s lives. At the same time, the MLTM aims for «Green Growth» in Korea by creating an eco-friendly environment for people and restoring river ecosystems.
