About the organization

The Spanish Water and Irrigation Manufacturers Association, AFRE, created in 1998, is the only non-profit national association which objectives are to represent, defend, promote and develop the Spanish Water Technologies. AFRE clusters currently 43 manufacturing members and 38 other companies and organizations of the water technology sector.  There are 7 guide-lines in the activities of AFRE:

  1. Defending the interest of the Spanish 
  2. Information, communication and corporative responsibility.
  3. Product quality and standardization.
  4. Research, development and innovation.
  5. Wide programme for education and employment in all aspects of manufacturing, projects elaboration, professional use of water and irrigation technologies and good practices.
  6. External promotion and fostering the cooperation between Spanish entities with the companies from other regions.
  7. Technology transfer and cooperation for development.

About the Governor representative

 

Antonio IBANEZ

Mr. Antonio Ibañez is an Industrial Engineer at the University of Zaragoza specialised in Management Studies at the IESE and at the Chemical Institute of Sarriá. Mr. Ibañez is the CEO of Fluidra Spain S.A. Previously, he was the CEO of Regader and also held responsible positions in multinationals as Procter & Gamble and McKinsey & Company, being Senior Member in the latter.

Mr. Ibañez has recently taken over the Presidency of AFRE from Mr. Antoni Serramiá, who held the manager position for four years during a stage in which the association recorded a significant growth and acquired a remarkable importance in the water sector and its technologies.

Miguel Lopez Estebaranz

Miguel López Estebaranz was graduated in 1998 in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. After that he finished the International Master of Water, Irrigation and Drainage in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food. He drew up local and regional projects of planification, rural development and environment, for example he coordinated the Strategic Plan For the Development of Almazán, 2000-2006. From 2005 he has been a Director of AFRE.  During this time, he coordinated and promoted important initiatives like IBEROAQUA, The Spanish Water Technological Platform and Catedra AFRE. He drew up the Strategic Plan for the years 2006-2010 for AFRE. Miguel López coordinated and participated in RDI projects, international congresses and seminaries about environment and water. He  is as well an author of many technical books and publications.
