About the Governor representative

 

Mark SMITH

Dr.Mark Smith has a background in hydrology, ecology and agricultural science. He has wide experience of field projects, training and policy work relating to water resources management, climate and sustainable agriculture. He has a special interest in working across sectors to promote water governance reform and implementation of IWRM. Positions: Head, IUCN Water Programme (current), IUCN Water Management Advisor (2006-2008), Water Research Scientist (UK, Africa, Australia, 1995-2005), PhD Ecology and Resource Management (1991-1994).

Mr. Alejandro IZA

Alejandro Iza is an international environmental lawyer, with special focus on water resources and environmental protection, including trans boundary governance. He has broad experience gained through teaching and research and legal practice, including with the European Commission. He has a special interest in water governance and in supporting the emergence of regional and global political dialogues on water resources development and management. Positions: Head, IUCN Environmental Law Programme (current), Legal Officer, IUCN (2000-2005).
