About the organization
Société des Eaux de Marseille (SEM), the main company of the Groupe des Eaux de Marseille, the fourth largest French group in the water sector, has been managing for over 50 years the treatment and supply of drinking water to 2 million inhabitants in Marseilles and 60 districts in Provence, with about 850 employees and an annual turnover of 285 million euros (2004).

About the Governor representative

Mr. Loïc FAUCHON
Loïc Fauchon had a long career in the public sector before joining SEM in 1991. From 1972 to 1974, he was Secretary of "Tourism and Leisure" for the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regional authority ; from 1974 to 1979, Secretary General for the Verdon Development ; from 1979 to 1980, Advisor to the President of the Region Council ; from 1980 to 1983, Director of the Bouches du Rhônes Council and from 1983 to 1991, Deputy Director of the Office of the Mayor of Marseilles and later Secretary General for International Relations of the city of Marseilles ; from 1983 to 1997, he was also elected city council member and later mayor of Trets, a city of 9,000 inhabitants in Provence.From 1991 to 1997, he was Director General of the Société des Eaux de Marseille, and he finally assumed the position as President of the Groupe des Eaux de Marseille, on July 1st, 1997.Mr. Fauchon has also been Vice-President of the Mediterranean Water Institute and since 1977, he has been the President of "TransSahara-Caravanes sans frontières", an NGO of 80 volunteers that he established for humanitarian missions in Sub-Sahara Africa.

Charles-louis DE MAUD'HUY
Charles-Louis de Maud'huy has had a long career in the water sector. He has been working for the Compagnie Générale des Eaux since 1978, as Advisor to the Chairman. Before working for Veolia, he worked during 18 years in the financial sector, first in the USA and then in France. He is a member of the following Boards : Aguas del Aconquija (Argentina), Aguas Argentinas (Argentina), Association des Amis du Mexique (France), Mediterranean Water Institute, Fonds Commun de Placement Actions VU and he is representative of the Group Veolia at the Académie de l'Eau (France).
