Water, a core component for sustainable development
The World Water Council has just released its position paper in favor of a dedicated Sustainable Development Goal on water within the post-2015 framework and identifying water as a pre-requisite for all development. The paper will serve to carry the voice of the international water community towards the UN Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals, which is set to meet until February 2014.
World Water Council co-organizes Water Summit with Hungary and the United Nations
More than 1200 delegates are meeting today at the Budapest Water Summit to recommend to the United Nations that water should play a central role in the post-2015 development agenda. Water’s cross-cutting nature underpins all progress - not only as access to water for water’s sake but as a tool to ensure health, food and energy to eradicate poverty within a growing global population.
