WWC Honorary President calls upon water community to commit to action

Our lives depend on the availability of water. If we fail to manage its availability, we condemn entire populations to being excluded from development and enjoyment of fundamental human rights.” These were the words of World Water Council Honorary President Loic Fauchon, during the opening ceremony of ANEAS’ Annual Convention on 28 November in Puebla, Mexico. Mr. Fauchon spoke in the presence of 2,000 people, including the Minister of Water representing the President of the Republic of Mexico, the Governor of the State of Puebla, Local Authorities of the City of Puebla, and the President of ANEAS.

In his speech, Mr. Fauchon stressed the crucial importance of water as a cornerstone for the resolution of both current and future worldwide crises. Highlighting that diplomacy, education and financing infrastructure underpin development and help policy-makers tackle challenges such as climate change, he called upon the water community to commit to action and participate in the 8th World Water Forum which be held in Brasilia, 18-23 March 2018.

The theme of ANEAS’ 31st convention was based on the United Nations’ 2017 World Water Development report entitled ‘Wastewater: The Untapped Resource.’

ANEAS is a long-standing member of the World Water Council and serves on its Board of Governors.
