8th World Water Forum key to secure solutions for water says President Braga

“Water availability is one of the prerequisites for human and economic development.”  With these words, the President of the World Water Council, Benedito Braga raised awareness about the importance of sustainable water management during both ENEG (Meeting of national water and sanitation entities in Portugal) and the International Water Association’s Development Congress, that were held last November in Portugal and Argentina respectively in the presence of the States’ political representatives.

By stressing the importance of water security as critical in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals, Mr. Braga highlighted through his speeches the need for the creation of infrastructure, governance and financing sources.

To strengthen diplomatic ties, the President highlighted that the 8th World Water Forum, which will be held 18-23 March 2018 in Brasilia, will be an excellent opportunity for all decision-makers around the world to share their experiences and solutions for water issues. “The World Water Forum is an event that receives all actors interested in...water issues, indepently of their idiological or political vision...an event where there are no preconceived positions and where everybody has the voice and the opportunity to express their vision.”
