Executive Director appointed to the World Water Council
The World Water Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Fraser MacLeod as Executive Director. Dr. MacLeod is a senior executive with more than twenty years of experience in sustainability, natural resources science, policy, and management in Europe and Australia. Dr. MacLeod’s appointment at the Headquarters in Marseille will be effective as of February 2nd, 2015.
Commenting on his appointment Dr. MacLeod said:”2015 will be a significant year for sustainable development. I very much look forward to working with the World Water Council to deliver water security.”
Dr. MacLeod has experience as Executive Director with the Murray-Darling Basin Authority where he led the technical development of a major reform of river basin planning. In his most recent position with the Global Water Partnership Dr. MacLeod has been responsible for leading global initiatives including the Global Dialogue on Water Security and Sustainable Growth.
WWC President Benedito Braga welcomed the appointment, stating: “Dr MacLeod’s diverse experience and leadership with governments, industry, NGOs and academia will be of great support to the World Water Council in implementing its strategy.”
