About the organization
The French Water Academy is a non profit, multidisciplinary, prospective and international think tank. It was created by Professor Jean DAUSSET, Nobel Prize laureat in Medicine. It has 150 members, all benevolent, both individuals and legal entities, in economic and social disciplines and in scientific and technical sectors. The main activities in 2009 are the following: - water and public health - right to water supply and sanitation - public participation with special attention paid to municipalities and the public at large - transborder IWRM (Integrated Water Resource Management), namely for transborder aquifers - water supply and access to sanitation during crisis events (natural catastrophes, technological breakdowns, national conflicts, wars) - Mediterranean strategy for water management.

Pierre Frédéric TENIERE-BUCHOT
Pierre Ténière-Buchot is a Civil Engineer (Ecole Centrale de Paris) and got a PhD (Paris Dauphine Univ.) in Applied Economics. He has been Engineer (1969-79) and General Director (1989-99) of the Seine-Normandy Water Authority in Paris; Senior Advisor (1999-2002) in UNEP (Nairobi and The Hague); Michel Camdessus assistant for water (2002-2003); consultant for the World Bank and WMO in Mexico (CONAGUA 2003-2006). He presently is Chairman of public debate Commissions (Dunkerque, 2007-2008, and Calais-Dover 2008-2009). He is member of the Board of Directors of the French Water Academy and Vice Président of Programme Solidarité Eau (pS-Eau).
